I know it's been too long since I've posted anything here. So let's start off with these two photos as a warming up session before I write as usual. These were taken at Toys R' Us in Midvalley Megamall. He has the plaster over his cheeks because he scratched his face till it bled. He has eczema, and he's a thumb sucker, so the contact with his saliva from the thumb sucking makes it worse. It heals, and it comes up again. Sometimes on one side of the cheek, sometimes on both. Poor boy! He also has some on his legs as well.
The dermatologist we went to says that, it'll wear off as he grows older. We sure hope so. Don't like seeing those red blotches on his cheeks, and of course the itchiness that he has to endure. Kesian Luqman. Kaki dah tak hensem sebab berparut-parut dah.
We're currently trying different kinds of creams, lotions and bathing soaps that are specifically for Luqman's skin condition. If you have any suggestions, that really would be great. I get really sad, once I even cried when he starts scratching on his scabs that are healing and starts bleeding. It must be extremely itchy for him to not feel the pain from all that scratching. :(
Thank you dear mommies. I've missed you all! Okay one last photo, this one was taken with my phone. It's much easier to camwhore with the phone rather than that bulky DSLR. I think that some of the best moments are captured with just a camera phone huh?
I really like this photo. Look at Luqman's expression. Hehe. Sad face, yet Ummi is smiling away! He was feeling sleepy, fed him milk and he dozed right away with that red zebra plaster on his cheek.Much Love, Anna
kesian luqman..ok pulak dia pipi bertampal..dia tak usik ke plaster kat pipi dia tu? kalu aariz, dah lama dah tercabut plaster kat mana2 lah badan dia..
ReplyDeleteanna, my middle son, Ali and husband have eczema. We use Oilatum soap (pink colour, about RM14, can get from guardian) for daily bathing. Its odorless, that's important. And you can also use Oilatum emollient after bath for luqman. just apply masa badan masih basah, and let it dry. no need to rinse. They really help in our everyday life. this also suggested by skin specialist.
ReplyDeleteAlternatively, get aqueous cream from clinic and use it everyday after bath too. (oilatum emollient tu macam mahal skit la). Lesson no. 1, never ever use sabun wangi atau mandian carrie junior la, pureen la untuk luqman, all the soapy, fragrant based product not advisable for eczema patient. Lesson no. 2, please jangan bawak luqman berpanas, that will trigger the eczema.
There you are. I hope it helps.
Khemy

Hi, I have eczema and acne (bummer, I know) and I'm telling you, I have tried so many things for both of them. My eczema isn't so bad but my skin is really pimply and has cysts and blackheads, and it's just awful, really. I've tried the expensive solutions and the cheap ones and nothing has worked for me. Honestly, SK II, Proactiv, Clean and Clear, Safi, Himalaya, Body Shop, Clearasil, Neutrogena, Hada Labo, St Ives.. the list is endless.
ReplyDeleteThen I figured out something. I have eczema and loads of breakouts.Could it be because I'm sensitive to chemicals? I mean, even the most 'natural' stuff in bottled cleansers have long lists of chemicals. I'm cutting out most of the chemicals from my life now. For shampoo I'm using Sodium Bicarbonate and to cleanse my face I use the oil cleansing method. It's definitely helped. My skin is smoother and softer and it feels moisturised. It's really relaxing when you steam your face too! I still have some pimples but I've only started this method for 5 days. I think it's working, fingers crossed. The best part is that some of the hard pimples (jerawat batu) have become soft and are disappearing.
I understand that you have problem skin and your son has eczema. Maybe both of you have sensitive skin? Eczema is genetic, kan? Try the oil cleansing method for your face, it might help and its really natural. For eczema, I've been using a dab of olive oil or evening primrose oil at night. To shower I use Horns and Halos Baby Shower Gel which is free of parabens and other nasties. I think it's really important minimise the amount of foreign chemicals that come into contact with our sensitive bodies. I mean, antibiotics and steroids can only work for a certain time and then you keep needing stronger antibiotics and stronger steroids as the bacteria evolve and build up resistance. I learnt most of the oil cleansing stuff from http://crunchybetty.com. Hope this helps! Sorry for the essay.
My baby pun macam tu, the most important thing is to pantang makan la. jangan kasi makanan yang most of ekzema baby tak boleh makan, eg telur, seafood, kacang..etc. ada jugak because of the habuk etc..
